In excess of 10.7 million searches were made by UK consumers looking for cars online in August, reveals a report just published by Greenlight. Audi and BMW dominated searches for cars. However, Vauxhall monopolised those pertaining to dealers.

Retail Banking: Mortgages, Loans and Credit Cards top consumer online queries

Analysis of the latest quarterly online search data for the retail banking sector from Greenlight, reveals queries pertaining to mortgages dominated consumer searches in July. Greenlight’s findings follow The Council of Mortgage Lenders latest estimates which show the UK’s total gross mortgage lending in July increased to £16.6 billion, the highest monthly estimate for gross lending since October 2008 (£18.6 billion).

Summer 2013 search volumes for cheap energy outstrip autumn 2012 levels

Consumer online searches for energy providers offering the most competitive rates on the market have been in steady decline since March this year, finds Greenlight's latest report covering search in this sector, perhaps due in part to a decent summer. Interestingly however, the research shows summer 2013 online search volumes have been a good deal higher than those of autumn 2012.

Job Hunting: Civil Service and Charities most sought after sectors

Totaling 4.9 million, online search volumes for jobs in July fell below those levels in the three months preceding it, reveals Greenlight's latest search data. Greenlight’s findings come on the back of figures released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS), showing UK unemployment fell by 4,000 in the three months to June.

Online gambling takes its biggest tumble yet, on the search front

Brits spend £2.3 billion annually on online gambling, according to research from Deloitte, commissioned by the Association of British Bookmakers (ABB). Browsing for beauty: Almost two in five beauty product searches made on mobile devices

Consumers made over 2.1 million searches on the web for beauty care products in June and 38% were made using mobile devices, reveals the latest online search data from Greenlight. Overall, queries pertaining to make-up were the most popular.
